At 73 blocks this is the largest category, and it covers every room of a house plus the furniture a restaurant, daycare or boutique shares with it: sofas, loveseats, a sectional and chaise, armchairs, dining tables and chairs, restaurant tables and a booth, beds, dressers and nightstands, bookshelves, closet rod shelves, rugs, lamps, plants and workshop pieces. An interior designer or residential designer draws them on the furniture plan, on I-FURN or A-FURN, with rugs on the A-FLOR-RUG sublayer so they plot as a light floor symbol under the furniture rather than over it.
The value of true dimensions is that circulation stops being a guess. The queen bed is 60 x 83 in with headboard, the king 76 x 80 in and the twin 38 x 78 in. The sofa is 84 x 36 in, the loveseat 58 x 34 in, the L sectional 96 in on each side. The six-seat dining table block, with chairs drawn, occupies 110 x 78 in around a 72 x 40 in top. A sound target is 36 in of walkway around a bed and behind dining chairs, the same 3 ft the IRC requires for a hallway.
Know which blocks carry chairs. Several dining and restaurant tables are top-only, inserting at the table center with no chairs, while others draw chairs beyond the top; the 60 in round with six chairs spans 98 x 87 in. Use the chaired version to test whether a room fits and the top-only version when chairs are placed individually. Rug sizes are the standard 5 x 8, 8 x 10 and 9 x 12 ft.
Datum rules vary by piece, and they are worth learning. Wall-backed pieces such as dressers, bookshelves and beds insert at the back-left corner on the wall line. Seating inserts at the near-left corner with the back at the far edge. Round and freestanding things (tables, lamps, plants, the closet island) insert at their center. The chaise comes as left and right hand; choose the hand that puts the headrest in a corner.

Under the AIA/NCS layer convention, furniture goes on I-FURN when an interior designer owns it, or A-FURN on the architect's drawings, so it can be frozen for construction plots. Rugs go on a floor sublayer, A-FLOR-RUG here, so they plot light and sit visually under the furniture.
